ABOUT RATSAMPLE PC 3D

Ratsample PC 3D is a complete fully functional version of one of four PostScript Type 1 fonts in the Ratcaps/Ratkeys PC keycaps font package from Quadrat Communications.

Ratsample PC 3D contains the complete character set of Ratcaps PC 3D: representations of the alphabetic, numeric and symbol keys on a standard PC keyboard.  These characters are mapped to their actual positions on the keyboard.  The sample font also includes four sample keys from Ratkeys PC 3D.  The keys and their positions are:

Enter with arrow                   Alt-0200
Shift                              Alt-0201
Shift arrow (without keyface)      Alt-0202
Right mouse button click and drag  Alt-0203

To access these characters in Windows, just hold down the Alt key on your PC keyboard and type the four-number combination on the numeric keypad.


ABOUT RATCAPS AND RATKEYS

Ratcaps and Ratkeys were created to address the need for a good, utilitarian set of keycap fonts that would render well at text sizes from laser printers at 300 and 600 dpi.  For this reason, the key and character shapes were kept clear and simple.  Although there are other keycap fonts available which look prettier, they do not print well at laser printer resolutions.

With version 2.0 the fonts have improved character outlines and hinting for even better rendering at low dpi, and expanded character sets.

Ratcaps PC contains representations of the alphabetic, numeric and symbol keys on a standard PC keyboard.  Ratkeys PC contains representations for the modifier, special function, F, cursor and numeric keypad keys on a standard PC keyboard, as well as mouse click and mouse drag representations, a cursor pointer arrow and a small assortment of basic dingbats.

The total typeface package consists of two basic fonts -- Ratcaps PC and Ratkeys PC -- each in two versions: a "flat" version and a "3D" version. All fonts are provided in both TrueType and PostScript Type 1 versions.  The flat versions look like the Ratsample PC 3D font in this archive, but without the slight shadow effect.

Cost of the font package if ordered from Canada is $40 Canadian.  Orders from Canada must add 7% GST ($2.80) for a total of $42.80, and orders from Ontario must add a further 8% PST ($3.60) for a total of $46.40.

Cost of the font package if ordered from outside Canada is $40 US, payable in US funds.

Fonts are supplied on 3.5 inch floppy diskettes only.

The standard Quadrat font licence permits use of the fonts on up to six computers kept at a single location, and their associated printers, plus temporary use at an outside service bureau.  Please call or write for pricing if you require licensing for more than six computers.
